J. Portela J. Pizarroso I. Lorente Benítez

March 2026 - June 2026

Funding entity Hospital Clínico San Carlos

The objective of the proposed collaboration is to consolidate and further develop the existing TransplanteDIETA tool to make it stable, traceable, and ready for a clinical pilot, improving its personalization capabilities, clinical safety, and usability for different user profiles.

This development is implemented within the TransplanteDIETA tool, which is a web-based nutritional support application tailored to people with chronic kidney disease.

Specifically, the following objectives are addressed:

1. Technical stabilization of the prototype: basic review of the code status and correction of critical issues that limit its use.

2. Evolution of the algorithmic engine: improvement of menu enrichment and optimization of ingredient exchanges, maintaining clinical safety criteria and traceability.

3. Traceability and content change control: strengthening version control and coherence of foods, recipes, and rules, ensuring alignment with official sources (e.g., BEDCA).

4. User profile–based interfaces: development of differentiated spaces and workflows for patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, with adapted permissions and views.

5. Physical exercise information module: inclusion of an exercise module with enriched content in coordination with the Rehabilitation department.

6. Minimum technical environment for the pilot: preparation of access control, activity logging, and basic backup systems.

7. Operational preparation of the clinical pilot: definition of an MVP pilot version, acceptance criteria, and a basic set of usage and adherence indicators.

The application has been developed in collaboration with Hospital Clínico San Carlos in Madrid.

Layman's summary: Web application that supports individuals with chronic kidney disease by providing personalized dietary recommendations according to their stage and treatment. This project strengthens its safety, personalization and traceability, preparing it for a clinical pilot.

Techniques employed: Streamlit, Data Bases, Optimization techniques, Text Analytics, LLMs
